Backup & recovery planning
A successful backup notification does not answer how the business would recover. SyncrionIT helps identify what is protected, who controls recovery, and how to test the data and systems that matter.
Define what needs to come back
Start with business workflows and the information they require. Email, shared files, cloud applications, server workloads, identity, and device configurations can have different protection and recovery arrangements. Syncing a file to another device is not the same as a defined backup and recovery process.
We map agreed data sources to their protection, retention, administration, and dependencies. The business identifies how much interruption and data loss each workflow can tolerate. Those requirements guide the scope rather than assuming every system needs the same solution.
- Coverage and ownership inventory
- Business recovery priorities and dependencies
- Review of backup configuration and failure follow-up
- Controlled restore planning and validation
- Recovery instructions and outstanding risks
Test a specific recovery scenario
Each test begins with a question: can an authorized person recover a representative file, mailbox item, or agreed workload to a usable destination? We define the sample, safe test location, required access, validation steps, and any limits before the exercise begins.
The record should capture the recovery steps, elapsed time, completeness, permissions, and anything that blocked the process. A successful file restore does not establish that an entire business can recover within the same time. Each result is reported within its tested scope.
Assign the ongoing responsibilities
Someone must notice failed jobs, investigate them, maintain access, and review the effect of new systems or staff changes. Recovery documentation should name those responsibilities and explain how authorized people obtain the required access when normal systems are unavailable.
Improvements may involve a separately approved product, a configuration change, a better escalation process, or a broader recovery exercise. The plan identifies which gaps are resolved and which remain dependent on budget, vendors, or decisions by the business.
What the business receives
The written estimate confirms the deliverables for your engagement. Depending on the agreed scope, these include:
- Coverage, access, and responsibility inventory
- An agreed recovery test plan
- Observed results and validation limits
- Prioritized improvements and usable recovery instructions
Before we start
A short description is enough for the initial conversation. The following information helps define the work; you do not need to have every answer ready.
- The workflows and information the business cannot lose
- Current backup products and administrative owners
- Known failures or previous restore results
- A business owner to approve test scope and timing
Project work starts with a written estimate. Changes to the approved scope are discussed before additional work proceeds. View pricing.
Scope & expectations
This service does not promise recovery of already lost data, a disaster-recovery time, or a compliance certification. Backup products, storage, incident response, and broader recovery exercises are separately scoped. Tests are authorized and planned to protect the operating environment.
Common questions
Is cloud storage already a backup?
Cloud platforms have different retention, recovery, and protection features. The review checks whether those features meet the business's specific recovery needs instead of assuming synchronization or default retention is sufficient.
Will you test our existing backup?
An authorized, controlled restore test can be scoped around the existing product and agreed data. Access, test destination, operational risk, and acceptance criteria are confirmed first.
Is backup included with IT support?
No. Support is provided on request and does not include backups. Backup for agreed Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace data, or a recovery project, can be scoped separately.
